TERMS & CONDITIONS

Shipping Policy:

At Coral Morphologic we choose FedEx overnight shipping services for the safe delivery of your precious animals. We have used other providers, but none have proven to be nearly as reliable as FedEx. Cheaper shipping options might be available though other carriers, but for the sake of your polyps’ health, we won’t use anyone else.

We have used FedEx for the previous 2 years while shipping our eBay orders, and have not lost one polyp in transit.

  • Flat rate shipping for standard overnight express (3:30pm next day) is $49.
  • Priority Overnight shipping (10:30am next day…recommended) is $59.
  • In state Florida shipping (excluding the Panhandle) is a flat rate $15.
  • These prices includes all packaging and handling charges.

Packing

All animals are shipped inside a thick-walled professional tropical fish Styrofoam box. These boxes are reusable and handy to bring to your local fish store, frag swaps, etc.We use durable 3 mil shipping bags, filled with oxygen to pack our polyps. We won’t risk losing polyps by over-packing them in a smaller box. When in doubt, we err on the side of caution.

When weather conditions require them, heat or cold packs are used (at no extra charge).

Keep in mind that for a small company like Coral Morphologic, we are do not aim to make any money on shipping charges. This is not part of our business model. Some larger suppliers may advertise lower shipping, but this is based on their larger shipping volumes, and negotiated prices with shipping carriers. In the future, as we grow and our volumes increase, we anticipate being able to lower our shipping prices.

Specimen Collection:

All of our wild-collected animals are collected by a duo team of licensed marine biologists and experienced fishermen in the Florida Keys. We can vouch for their handling from the ocean, into our grow-out tanks, and into the box that will take them to your door. We are not middlemen.

Purchase Policy:

All sales are final, and refunds are made at our discretion. If for some reason an animal that you order is out of stock, or otherwise un-saleable, we will contact you first to determine whether you’d prefer a refund, or a similar replacement with another polyp. When you place your order, please indicate the best day of arrival for you. We will not hold onto your orders for more than 5 business days. Please see the FAQ for more information regarding DOA’s, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

What happens if my polyps are dead on arrival?

In the very rare and unlikely event that these polyps perish in transit, we ask that you take a photo of the polyps still in their shipping bags within an hour of receipt from FedEx. We will replace your animals at no charge. Many of our animals are one of a kind, and therefore we will do our best to replace them with similarly looking polyps. It is in our best interest to make sure that you, the customer, is satisfied.

What happens if my box doesn’t arrive on time?

FedEx guarantees delivery within 90 minutes after the intended arrival time (generally 10:30 a.m. for Priority, 3:30 p.m. for Standard overnight). If delivery does not take place within this time frame, you are entitled to free shipping. Let us know.

How long will Coral Morphologic hold onto my order before shipping?

Shipping must take place within 5 business days of order placement. Be sure that you will be able to receive your polyps in this time frame. Please indicate to us the best day or days for us to ship at the time of you order. Do not order unless you can receive your package within this time frame.

What kind of experience does CM have when it comes to packing, shipping, and selling corals over the internet?

Coral Morphologic has been operating on eBay since February 2006 under the name “Caribbean_Corallimorph”. In that time we have been enthusiastically embraced by satisfied, and returning customers. We have a flawless feedback score. Coral Morphologic is the expanded result of proven success in the competitive world of eBay selling.

I’m coming down to Miami for vacation, can I pick up, or buy in person?

Unfortunately, Coral Morphologic is a small, independently owned and operated business with 2 full-time employees. We are not a retail store, and we cannot at this time accept walk-ins.

Do you ship internationally?

Unfortunately we do not ship internationally at this time. In order to ship overseas legally, a veterinary certificate is required by US Fish and Wildlife. At this time we do not have the time, resources, or abilities to acquire such certification, but we will be looking to do so in the future.

What do I do when my polyps arrive?

It is very important that you schedule an arrival date and time that will be convenient for you to receive the package direct from FedEx. We don’t want these boxes sitting unattended in harsh weather conditions.Once you have the package, remove the bags from the Styrofoam box and float them in your aquarium. We recommend that you turn off the aquarium lights during the acclimation process to minimize stress on your new animals. After 10-15 minutes of floating in your aquarium, we recommend performing a slow drip acclimation process to initiate the animals to your tank’s water chemistry. If there is any concern about the health of your polyps on arrival, don’t hesitate to contact us at help@coralmorphologic.com.

How should I put these polyps in my tank?

Keep in mind that the polyps that we sell are unattached to any significant amount of rock that could otherwise keep the polyps anchored in place in a busy and current-swept aquarium. It is illegal in the state of Florida to collect any live rock. Preferably you will have a separate tank, or designated area in your main tank, for coral frag attachment. This will be a quiet area where the polyps can either naturally attach to rocks/rubble, or where they can be glued down onto rocks of your choosing.
Super glue gel (Cyanoacrylate) is a recommended adhesive for this purpose, but keep in mind that it will only work when attaching the minimal amount of rubble attached to the polyp onto another rock. After several weeks, the polyps will naturally attach to the new, larger rock of your choice. Super glue will not adhere to the polyp tissue, and that this will only serve to stress the animal. Attachment is best from rubble to rock.

What sort of lighting conditions does Coral Morphologic use to hold and grow out their polyps?

We are currently using a combination of 250 and 400 watt 20,000K HQI metal halide bulbs to grow out our polyps. The 400 watt bulbs are suspended about 30 inches above the water, while the 250 watt bulbs are about 18 inches high.

We acclimate our polyps for a minimum of two weeks to ensure that they have fully recovered from the stresses of collection and transport, and to allow them to adjust to aquarium conditions.

Our polyps are accustomed to relatively high levels of light, so it is unlikely that they will be light shocked when you put them in your aquarium. That said, most of the polyps that we sell will grow and be comfortable under a wide range of lighting from PC, T5, VHO, HQI, and MH.

Some of the Discosoma will do okay under normal fluorescent lighting. In fact lower lighting often encourages larger polyp expansion.

See individual species pages for more information regarding husbandry.
